What is Life Coaching?

Life Coaching is… all about you!

Coaching is a partnership between you and a caring professional coach who is dedicated to working with you to achieve your goals.  Life coaching is a unique professional relationship where you will be encouraged, challenged, and inspired to think creatively and motivated to intentionally move from where you are now to where you want to be.

Christian Life Coaching is a dynamic partnership for growth and change.  It is a safe, trusting relationship where you are free to explore possibilities, clarify your life vision, identify your gifts and overcome obstacles as you seek God’s unique plan for your life.

Coaching is About You!

The Christian Coaches Network identifies the distinction of Christian Coaching in this way: “A Christian Coach understands and honors the spiritual dimension of Christian faith when and as it is important to discuss it.” In Christian Coaching we connect the power of coaching with the power of prayer and God’s Word!

“Coaching is a distinct service and differs greatly from therapy, consulting, mentoring or training.  Coaching is a distinct profession with established core competencies that define the required skill set and knowledge of a professional coach.”

INTERNATIONAL COACH FEDERATION

Life Coaching is not…

Counseling – The coaching process looks forward rather than backward, focusing on bridging the gap between where you are now and where you want to be.  Life Coaching helps you explore new perspectives, achieve your goals and discover new possibilities that lead to action.

Consulting – Consultants are experts in their field, drawing on their experience and making recommendations.  Coaches do not act as experts giving advice, but rather see the client as creative, capable, and the authority on his or her own life. The coach’s responsibility is to discover, clarify, and partner with the client to encourage self-discovery.

Mentoring – Mentors are often a more ‘senior’ person who passes on their God given wisdom, counsel, and experience to someone with less knowledge or expertise.  Coaches on the other hand, use their coaching skills to bring out the client’s own experiences, helping people learn instead of teaching them.
